What was the best running vacation you ever took and why?
I have to say Queenstown (New Zealand) half-marathon. I spent a week of pure indulgence with a few adventures - great food, friendly people whilst surrounded by astonishing views. Where’s the next place on your running travel bucket list and why? New York marathon - I think it’s the queen of all marathons and happens to be their 50th anniversary this year. What was the last race you’ve done? Noosa half-marathon in 2019. Would you say you’re more of an extrovert or an introvert, and how does it relate to your running? I am an extrovert - I enjoy running with friends and others and the socialising that comes with it. What’s your favourite thing about running? The feeling of freedom, the positive energy for the body and mind. What annoys you most? Injuries that may stop you from doing what you love and also inconsiderate people. What’s the running highlight you’re most proud of? Coming 1st (age category) in the international women’s day fun run - the only race that gets you a prize and a medal :) Do you think you’ll stay at your current distance awhile? Why or why not? I enjoy running HM, it’s quick and doesn’t require extensive training. Occasionally I like the challenge of the marathon distance . Are you more of a “run to relax” or a “run to get it done with” type of person? Most times a “run to relax” and a “run to get it done “ on a race day . How much time do you spend running in a week? 4 -5 hrs/week What is your favourite regular course and why? City loop! It’s central to everybody. Were you running growing up? No! I only did a bit of running as part of PE in grade 5 and 6. Sports was not an important part of the school curriculum. What is your definition of a perfect run? A run that I can enjoy the surroundings without worrying about falls, cramps and still get a surprise of a faster time than predicted. What (running related) are you most proud of in the last year? Coming 2nd (age category) in the Noosa HM Who (running related) do you admire most in the world? Rosa Mota, Carlos Lopes and the great Eliud Kipchoge If you were to win a race price money, what would you do with it? I hope the prize is big enough to spend half, indulging myself on a nice holiday, and invest the other half What race or run do you regret not doing in the last year? GCHM What race or run is on your bucket list? New York, London, Paris and Berlin marathon’s. If you see a puddle on the ground, do you run around it, over it or get straight into it? On short runs, go over it and on long runs, go around it because I don’t like to have wet shoes and socks for too long. If you could have a super power, what would it be? Time travel so I could be present at all important and special occasions with my family and friends. If you could go back to anytime in history, where would you go? Maybe the 18th century (enlightenment age) - but only with today’s gender equality standards.
